UNICOPS WP2 Workshop in Łódź – Advancing CBRNE Security in Higher Education Institutions

On 17–18 March 2026, a WP2 End-User Workshop was successfully held in Łódź at the Conference and Training Center, as part of the UNICOPS – CBRNE Protection for Higher Education Institutions project.

The event brought together task leaders and project experts, including representatives of the MOLecoLAB of the Medical University of Lodz, such as Prof. Ireneusz Majsterek, Prof. Tomasz Popławski, and Tomasz Pytel MSc.

The workshop marked a key milestone within WP2, focusing on a comprehensive assessment of current security frameworks in higher education institutions in the context of CBRNE risks. During the sessions:
• findings from desk research, surveys, and on-site inspection visits were presented,
• results of regulatory and legal framework analyses were discussed,
• critical gaps, needs, and best practices were identified,
• actionable recommendations were developed to strengthen institutional resilience.

The workshop also provided a platform to align on upcoming project phases, particularly WP3 (development of a CBRNE protection system supporting both security and openness of higher education institutions), WP4 (training system and pilot implementation), and WP5 (dissemination and mainstreaming activities).

Our active participation in this workshop reflects a strong commitment to advancing innovative, evidence-based solutions that enhance safety across academic environments, while contributing to the development of practical and scalable CBRNE protection standards.

UNICOPS continues to serve as a strategic platform for international collaboration, aimed at reinforcing the preparedness and resilience of higher education institutions through targeted research, knowledge exchange, and implementation of effective security solutions.
